Jennifer began her career in education as a high school classroom teacher, teaching English, Reading, Speech, and Theatre. Driven by a passion for student success and school improvement, Jennifer pursued school leadership and served as an assistant principal and later as a high school principal.
Her leadership abilities led her to district-level service with the Glendale Union High School District, where she held multiple senior roles, including Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, Associate Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and, ultimately, as Superintendent. In these roles, Jennifer was responsible for academic achievement, staff recruitment and retention, budgeting, labor relations, and long-term strategic planning.
After retiring from GUHSD, Jennifer continued serving Arizona’s public schools as Deputy Superintendent at the Arizona Department of Education, overseeing statewide academic programs and supporting districts across Arizona. She later joined Grand Canyon University as Associate Vice President for Academic Alliances, where she worked to strengthen partnerships between higher education and public school districts.
In addition to her professional career, Jennifer has volunteered with School Connect since 2018, a statewide nonprofit dedicated to building strong, mutually beneficial partnerships between schools and their communities. She currently serves as Board Chairperson. Jennifer’s experience with School Connect will help position SUSD for important collaborations with businesses, nonprofits, faith communities, and civic organizations on valuable contributions to student success.
I am a proud lifelong Arizonan who raised my sons in Arizona public schools. I have served in all levels of education in our state: as a teacher, a principal, a superintendent, and a Grand Canyon University vice president. I hold a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Public Policy from Arizona State University.
